First real stitches.

On Tuesday March 22nd the kids had just finished their after school snacks and were playing outside with friends, while I was down stairs folding laundry. When all of sudden I Hear Erilyn crying like I have never heard her cry before!  I can hear her running inside I dropped the towel I was folding and ran upstairs to find her standing in the kitchen covered in blood! My first thought was a bloody nose so I took her to the bathroom to clean her up. And quickly realized that the blood wasn't coming or her nose but from her eyebrow! Splashing water on her face wasn't doing the trick so I reached for a wash cloth and found  they were all down stairs waiting to get put away so we grabbed the next best thing a baby wipe and cleaned her up I knew pretty much right away she would need stitches. My next though was I need to find a sitter for the younger 2 so I called my friend who didn't answer, another friend who answered but wasn't home and texted a neighbor who could because she was still on the clock working from home. I called my mom who was grocery shopping and couldn't then gave up and called Travis who I knew was in an important work meeting and shouldn't be interrupted. He sent me a text and said he would call me back so I sent him a message that said Erilyn needs stitches! Along with the first picture. He responded that he would be home in 10 min. by this time all the kids were in the car because I had them load up in between phone calls because I was gonna take them to sitter. I went to tell them to get out to stay with daddy while I took Erilyn to the ER. I finally had a second to breath and realized that my adrenaline was so high that my whole body was tingling and was shaking uncontrollably and breathing heavily all while trying to stay strong and not cry for the kids. I realized it probably wasn't safe for me to drive and called Travis to see where he was and see if  he would just drop us off at the ER. He was around the corner and said he would take us up there. It was the longest drive to the hospital EVER! We hit every singe red light! When we got to the ER I was finally calmed down a bit. We walked into the ER and they took one look at her eye and took her vitals while I checked us in.

They put numbing gel on it and cover it with gauze Then took us to our room.

They gave Erilyn an ipad to play on while we waited for them to stitch her up. We saw 3 doctors 2 nurses and a social worker type person who talked her thru everything and showed her exactly what they were gonna do with the stitches. Each doctor was worried about a concussion and looked her over for other injuries and asked her story about what happened. She told them she was jumping on her pogo stick and next thing she knew she was face first on the cement her glasses broke and we are almost positive that she literally just caught her self with her face she had no other marks or pain.

FINALLY after 3 hours they stitched her up. She ended up with 2 dissolvable stitches inside and 5 removable ones on the outside.

She wore her mask that she decorated with markers and the saline they used to clean out her cut made the colors bleed and left marks on her face.

This was the view when we cam out of the hospital!

Poor girl had a dentist appointment to fix a cavity the next day on the same side of her face!

Only 5 days later on march 28th she had her stitches removed! Its healing well and she looks so good compared to what I thought it would when I saw it for the first time!!

It was one of the scariest days of my life to see my baby girls face like that! The ER docs were all amazing and reassured me it was going to be ok and that with it being on her eyebrow her hair will cover most of the scar. She was SOOO Brave the whole time and barely even moved when the first stich went in just below where she was numb and hurt! We got home from the ER late and I gave her medicine before she went to bed, The next morning we followed the blood trail to her pogo stick and where she was pogo sticking was covered in rubber mulch and rocks so we think what happened is she hit on of the rocks or mulch and it made the pogo stick unsteady resulting in her loosing control and falling face first.
