Scoliosis update.

This was the fist scoliosis appointment that  Travis was able to go to and man am i glad he was there it was kind of scary one! Her curve changed from a 13-19 degree curve in 6 months! The specialist was worried that there may be some thing else causing the curve in her back and ordered an MRI for her. She said they would call in 24-48 hours to schedule it after closer to 60 hours i called and they said that they were still waiting to hear back from the nurses to authorize the sedation, they would call me back asap. Finally an hour later they called and notified me that we were good to go but the main hospital was booked out till Oct. and gave us the option to do it at another location with sooner openings.
I chose Layton and they were able to get us in the fallowing Monday at 7am. The day before school started. After church we had my dad and Travis give her a blessing then we headed to sleep at Matts house because it was closer to the hospital and Nisha would be able to watch the Other kids since they weren't allowed in the hospital. Enslie was little nervous but also so brave! Once she was asleep they told us that the MRI would take about and hour. That was the longest hour and 20 min. of my life!! But she did so well and was so excited for apple juice and gold fish crackers after. It was kinda funny though while she was still kinda out of it she dropped some of her crackers on her light blue blanket she had and she said " The fishies are in the ocean, go fishies!"
Then came the hard part! Waiting for the results they told us we could have the results as soon as that night but for sure by the end of day the next day. At about 1:30 the next day i became impatient and called they said some one would call shortly. At 4:20 I notice they close at 4:30 call again and get sent to the doctors secretary of course she doesn't answer! Wed. we end up at the pediatrician with Erilyn and ask if they have the results she looks them up and shows me that the results are normal and the notes the tech. left. that her curve isn't bad laying down and they think her pelvic tilt is to blame. Ok now i at least know its normal but I don't know the next steps. So i wait for some one from the ortho office to call me..... Thurs nothing! So Friday I call and I'm on hold for 15 min. they say they will email the doc and she will call me right away. An hour later i finally get a call from dr. Kunkle her self.. "Im so sorry its taken so long to get back to you, the results were normal." "Ok so what do i do now? she says we can brace at night or we can try putting an insert in her shoe on the left side and see if evening out her pelvic tilt helps and i will see you in 6 months. so we ordered her shoe inserts and today is her first day wearing it. hopefully it helps and she wont have to wear a brace.

Last big home project. Adding a bathroom!

We have been planning and dreaming about this day since we bought our house but, knew it would be quite the project! We got a quote in early June. they quoted us $31,000!! so we decided to just do it our self's like everything else. We completed the whole thing for right around $7,000
Before...

The first task was to empty the old storage room this is just the food products.

DEMO!!

Wall demoed, ready for the plumbers. you can see that bathroom lay out if you look at the black writing on the floor.

Next project talk out old nasty sink next to dryer.

Now its ready!

Since the basement had no plumbing for a bathroom it was quite the project getting a sewer line put in for it. Especially since it went straight out side under out bedroom so they had to dig up a lot of the basement to run it.

While they were at it we had them add a drain by the water heater and a new floor drain in the now storage room.

Lue supervised.

And cookie hid from the noise.

Quite the concrete pile!!

Thank you shamrock plumbing!

All done for the day!

Our old floor drain they said when they pulled it out it literally just fell apart.

Plumbing all done and bathtub installed.

The kids helped paint the storage room shelfs a better color since wood is so expensive right now we re-used the old ones.

Then had fun picking paint off them self's after.

Getting ready to fill in the holes from the new plumbing.

We started out mixing the cement inside then moved it out side because it was a huge mess.

Korbyn thought the pile was fun to play on.

We found kitty prints the next morning.

We walled in the bathroom/ storage room wall so i could get all my stuff  put back and realized that the main water shut off was in the no un accessible room. So we cut hole in the wall in our closet to we could access it if we needed to until we could get the rest done.

Kitty sleeping in the mess!

Cutting shelving to fit the new space.

All ready for stuff!

The pile just kept getting bigger!

Finally access to the bathroom from our room.

New roof....

and wall.

Time from a trip to the dump.

We were worried about the weight of the cement in the truck and at the dump. So i did some research and found out that you can fill your green garbage 1/4 of the way full with cement each week so we have been slowly getting rid of it each week.

Tile time!!

Ready for pain! The red stuff is water seal so nothing can get the dry wall wet and ruin it.

Bathtub done just needing to dry. We had  neighbor help us with the tile because to have some one come do it would have been a 2 month wait.

Floor!!

We found a vanity we really liked but it was white and the grey one was double the price and we already have alot of white in that bathroom so we painted it grey at gramma Cornies new place. The kids had fun with the box.

Grouted!!

We paid Shamrock to come back and do finishes for us like installing the toilet, shower head and faucet.

And i made a one Last run to Lowes or a mirror toilet paper holder and towel rack and Target to get towel's and rugs to finish off the look.

The last thing was to build me a closet since mine was compromised to gain access to the bathroom.

We used left over paint to paint the shelves so it all matches!

I'm so glad this project is done! it took longer then we would have hoped but the money we saved was worth it.
