24th of July 2020

This 24th was definitely different then any other we have ever had. The parade we usually go to in Grantsville was cancelled and Aunt Kd is currently with out a pool so we didn't feel a drive out there was worth it. So we didn't really have any plans to go anywhere. We decided to tackle a project that we were both dreading!

Before we get into it look how cute Lue is all tucked in a for a nap...

Right around the time we got the sprinklers up and going for the season i noticed that the carpet right by bed would randomly get wet but didn't think to much about it. It wasn't ever soaked so i figured the sprinklers were leaking somewhere and prayed that it wasn't damaging the wall. Upon further inspection we noticed that our chimney was no longer attached to the house. We are thinking the earthquake had something to do with it so we calked around the edges to seal it and the flooding seamed to slow down. well we weren't that lucky. I was leaning on the side of the bed one night talking to Travis and my barefoot heal went right thru the wall! It went in way to easy, so Travis stuck his finger in the hole and sure enough the dry wall was all soggy. so we made this our 24th of July project it became alot bigger then we thought!

We (Travis) cut a hole in our wall to get rid of the soggy dry wall her is the finished product. We turned on the sprinklers and the water was literally coming in sheets it looked like that foundation was seeping water!

Next we dug outside to get a better look at the foundation and chimney. As we were spraying down the chimney, Travis just so happened to spray the gas meter that started to bubble and hiss. So we made an emergency call to the gas company they said they would be there in an hour is was closer to half an hour when they arrived. Travis was worried they would think it was something he did to it. But it wasn't it was simply a loose connection likely from when they replaced it a few summers ago. It was a slow leak and was barely noticeable they tightened it and gave it a new paint job.

The finished product. We decided to move the sprinkler away from the house seal the chimney with flex seal inside and out, take out the grass and replace it with mulch to hopefully prevent it from happening again. by bed time we were all so tired that we all fell asleep to our neighbors doing fireworks.
