First broken bone?

On July 28th I was at a church meeting and Travis set up the bounce house slide for the kids to play on. Right before I got home Erilyns pinky finger nail got caught on the seam at the top of the slide right as she was sliding down. She didn't even cry but went inside and iced it and cuddled the cat to feel better. I didn't think much of it after that but gave her some ibuprofen so she could get some sleep. It wasn't swollen and she could still move it so i figured it was just sprained or jammed. The next morning this is how it looked...

Visibly swollen and bruising, she could still move it almost all the way though.

I called the pediatrician and talked to a nurse they told us to ice it, keep up on ibuprofen, get a splint to put on it and call if it wasn't improving by Wednesday.

Wednesday came and it looked worse then any other day so i called the pediatrician and they said to come in so they could see it. Doc looks at it and still thinks it just sprained but suggested we go down stairs to get a "just incase" x ray to rule out a broken bone.
This is the first x-ray they took i was behind the wall when it popped up and i could tell right away that it was broken! I held back the tears and was brave for Erilyn but felt guilty that i hadn't taken her in right away and that she had a broken finger for 3 days with out me knowing. Mom guilt is real!!

They said they would send the x rays right up to the pediatrician and to call them if they hadn't after 3 hours.  3 and a half hours later i call they haven't received them yet say they will look for them and call right back... 2 hours later i call found them but haven't looked yet. An hour later our nurse calls tells us its fractured ( i knew that) and gives me a number to call at primary children's the next day to get it looked at and decide our cast options. I call... they need the x rays i call the ray place and leave a message 3 hours later i give up and call the pediatrician they say they will send them. Right after i get off the phone with them the x ray place calls back and says they will send them. 3 hours passes i call the casting clinic again they have to look for them i get put on hold.... after a few min they get back on and say they found them and we set up an appointment to get  a cast for the fallowing Wed.

The day finally came My mom came with for moral support and to help with the younger 2 kids. I thought this was adorable when we walked in they wrote her a note! The doc looked at it and the x rays and suggested that we try splinting it different to see if that would work with out having to do a hard cast.

We go back in 3 weeks to check on it again.... At least she is a lefty so this wont effect her writing in school.
