Enslie Jaylynn Shorts Birth story.

Starting at about 37 weeks I started to get contractions they would start to get about 10 min apart then stop for hours or even days. It was quite annoying and painful, I had a growth ultra sound on the 20 they said she weighed about 7lbs 10oz. This made me nervous I was scared I was going to deliver a 10lb. baby I told my doc this and he agreed to induce me because she was measuring big, it was my second pregnancy, I was already dilating and I was ready. So we scheduled it for Feb. 3. I had a doctors apt. on the 29th I was hoping I would be dilated enough to induce I was a 4 but because I wasn't having regular contractions he said we would have to wait till I went on my own or the 3. The next day I started to get contractions  after some morning ummm... "fun". They were about 8 min apart I was trying to figure out how to keep them coming when I noticed that it had snowed. I threw on some jeans, a t-shirt and my coat to shovel  it rained then snowed on top of it so the snow was more like slush witch made it kind of heavy witch was even better since there wasn't much. I took my time making as many shovel strokes as I could I even shoveled the drive way in a spiral. When I came inside they were closer like 3 min apart but weren't as painful as I remembered so I thought they would stop again. We decided to play some horse with a little basketball hoop that Travis got from work. They were starting to get stronger but I still wasn't sure. By this time it was about noon Travis had to be to work at 1245 he said he was going to go get dressed I thought he was getting ready for work and I would call him if something happened..... nope he came up with my hospital bag and pillow and said we were going to the hospital to get checked out. I still wasn't sure if this was it but agreed to go get checked out. When we got to the hospital I had 3 pretty good contraction while filling out the short questionnaire and getting my insurance card scanned. They didn't have any clean open rooms so they put me in a triage room and had me change into a hospital gown while they cleaned the room and monitored me for a few min. They came back in and checked me I was a 4 and half to 5 so they admitted me. When we got to the room the nurse asked me if I wanted an epidural I said I did but wanted to wait she said since I was going so fast I might miss my chance if  I didn't get it so I agreed about 5 min later the anesthesiologist came in and as I was getting the epidural my doc showed up the nurse asked him if he was going to break my water he said I had to finish my anti-biotics first because I tested positive for group b strep. So we had to wait my doc came in at about 545 to check me (I was at a 6) and break my water. An hour later they checked me and I was at an 8 that's when it started to hurt. It hurt on my lower belly but only when I had a contraction so the anisethiologist  came and gave me another dose of medicine the nurse decided to try letting me lay on my side we did the right first  I could tell it was going to be soon so everyone left the room besides Travis. The nurse then had me turn onto my left side that's when the pressure started and it HURT. My contractions were about 1min and a half apart I had 3 then she checked me the head was right there, so she called my doc who luckily was in the parking lot he came in and got all prepped. It was time to push the first push you could see the top of her head the next alittle more then alittle more then we waited and waited for the next contraction when it came I pushed her head out then one more for the shoulders. When he broke my water there was merconium so they had to take her to get checked out right away by the nicu so they could clean out her lungs before she cried. She let out a nice scream it was an awesome sound to hear since Erilyn didn't cry. They then cleaned her up and brought her right over to me to do some skin to skin and try to nurse before weighing and measuring her. Erilyn was the first to meet her then everyone else. I have to say that this labor and delivery was a complete 180 from last time  and Im very happy with how it turned out. Now for the good part.... pictures :-D
Big sister when she first got to the hospital.

Erilyn made sure we were all entertained.

They gave Erilyn this cute im a big sister now band to wear.

38 weeks

Im 38 weeks today. My ultra sound went well on Mon. infact too well hahaha they found lots of fluid and say that baby Enslie is measuring big at 7lbs. 10 oz give or take a lb.!!!! But say that judging by the chunky cheeks she has  she is probably more like 8 or 9 lbs.!! They decided along with my doc that I don't need to go twice a week now for non stress tests. At my doctors apt on wed I was dilated to a 3 and 85% effaced so he told me that if I make it to Feb. 3 he will induce me a few days early because im scared im going to have a 10 lb. baby haha that means at the most I only have one non-stress test and one doctors apt left AHHHH I cant wait its getting so close! I'm having some contractions but they aren't regular at all I can go hours with out one then all of the sudden have a few in an hour. So now we play the waiting game we either need my water to break, my contractions to become more regular or Feb. 3 :-D

36 weeks 5 days

When I was pregnant with Erilyn i was told at my nst and afi that I would have to be induced do to low fluid at 36 weeks 5 days. This time I ended up having one done on thurs. I was 36 weeks 5 days I was worried that this would be it that I would have my baby at the same time I had Erilyn as I layed on the bed and the lady started to look for fluid I began to get nervous.... she wasn't finding much of anything. They have to find fluid in the 4 quadrants of the belly (imagine a big + on your belly with your belly button being the center.) The first one you could barely see the fluid the next was also small, the next she found a really big pocket but baby moved right as she was about to take the picture. Luckily she was still able to get a good sized one then another on the next. They then add the measurements together to come up with the fluid amount she says 10.97! (That's  good that's in the average range) Yay this meant that I was able to make it to 37 weeks witch is technically full term and the longest I have ever been pregnant :-). Now the count down begins she can come anytime! Everyday means a better chance of her being healthy though so our goal is still to make it to the due date. Iv got an ultra sound scheduled on Mon to make sure she is still growing on schedual if she is measuring small we will talk inducing if she is measuring right we will continue to be monitored either until my fluid gets to low or I go into labor on my own.

Erilyns 2nd birthday party.

Because Erilyns birthday is so close to Christmas (Dec, 22) We decided that will celebrate her Birthday on her due date Jan 13, For a few reasons its to hard to get people together that close to Christmas, Travis would never be able to come because of his lovely holiday work schedule and its just easier to wait till after so its not sooo much all at once.
Anyways, as we were grocery shopping about a week before her birthday party we decided to let her pick out a cake. She is really into mickey mouse and curious George  right now so we gave her the choice between those 2 she chose mickey. when we asked her if she wanted chocolate or vanilla she looked at me like I was crazy and said "coclate". After that she would not stop asking about her "coclate mickey cake" When we picked it up she smiled so big when she saw it all finished and would not take her eyes off of it. She was very concerned when it had to go up the escalator all by its self and the first thing she said when we got home was "coclate mickey cake ok?'
She was so excited for her party. It was pretty low key we just had our families over for cake and ice cream ( I let Erilyn pick out the ice cream she picked it out by color..... the "green one"( mint chocolate chip),  the "orange one" (dream cycle), and "that one" witch was s'mores,) She loved playing with all of her cousins, seeing her grandpas and of coarse everyone else. :-)

Her cake was really cute and super yummy! She did so good blowing out her candles!

She got the first piece of cake and taste of each ice cream she was in heaven!!

She kept calling the party hats " castle hats"

Her cousins joined her to eat wich made her happy! She loves her cousins

Travis noticed that Minnie left a smiley face on her cake!!

opening her present from Kamrins family

A curious George book?!

Her present from us.

Checking it out its a leapster explorer we were hoping she would play with this instead of our phones but she hasn't quite figured out how it works yet. She also got a little piano and lots of money.

New years.

As I was looking back at my new years post from last year I'm really surprised at how well we did with getting them all done! This is the list from last year!
  • Save up enough money to fly to Alaska to see Grandpa Troys house.
  • Become pregnant with a little brother or sister for Erilyn :-D ( This wont be for a few months)
  • Potty train Erilyn (ASAP!!! Im tired of Changing diapers!!)
  • Get Erilyn in a big girl bed so Said little brother or sister can use her crib :-D
  • Cook dinner for my family more often and by this i mean from scratch. ( o boy!!! )
  • Keep paying off debt
  • Get more Financially stable
  • Get jaw looked at /fixed?
  • Get out wisdom teeth ( OUCH!!!!)
  • Pray more with Erilyn.
We did all of them but get my wisdom teeth out! We had TONS of fun in Alaska. Had success in becoming pregnant with a little sister for Erilyn. Potty trained Erilyn, we are still working on nap/bed time but she is catching on fast. She transitioned well to a big girl bed and hasn't asked to sleep in her crib once, I had fun coming up with ideas for dinners but do to my growing belly and loss of sleep I don't have the energy to do it any more haha! So we have lots of lasagna type stuff I can just throw in the oven. We ended up having to buy a new car so paying off debt was kinda put on the back burner but we are more financially stable! :-), I got meds for my jaw witch I was never able to take due to getting pregnant but honestly it doesn't bother me a whole lot any more it gets worse I'm stressed or eat lots of chewy food so I just try to avoid those things, it does hurt to yawn though because my mouth opens to wide causing it to pop. I wasn't able to get my wisdom teeth out because my dentist wanted to charge us $600 so we called the insurance and they said it would be free if we went somewhere that specialized in wisdom teeth..... when I called to schedule it they said we needed a referral from our dentist and he didn't back to me in time before I got pregnant. As far as praying goes Erilyn has gotten to the point that she reminds us to bless the food an pray before bed, she will fold her arms and hold still the whole time, says amen before we do and throws her arms up in the air.

As far as goals go for this year I really don't have any except for learn how to juggle 2 kids 24-7 and still give both of them the attention they need. Also be able to exclusively breastfeed longer then I did last time. Other then that I'm happy with were things are going for me and my little family and cant wait to see what the new has in store for us.
As far as our new years night went it was super low key we decided that letting Erilyn stay up was not a good idea so we got her to bed about 830. We watched TV and ate junk food till midnight when we watched the ball drop kissed and went to sleep. It was super hard for me to stay up this year! With my growing belly and added pressure on everything I cant get comfortable, the baby wont stop kicking long enough for me to fall asleep or finally get comfortable and I all of the sudden have to pee so bad I barley make it to the bathroom. :-)
